: iTunes question about consolidating

Hey all
I'm scratching my head about this.

I've consolidated my library, i always do this.
Now I've deleted a few items from my library, a good 200 songs or so, but instead of clicking

"Move to Trash"

I clicked on "Keep files"

now these songs are in my hdd but not in my library, and I dont know where they are or how I can go about deleting these random 200 songs which I have no idea are..

Is there a faster way of doing this instead of having me go through all the folders to find all these songs?

I understand 200 seems like a lot of files and it should be easy for me to find.
But when your library consists of 32,454 songs..this is going to take some time.

And I use this laptop for mainly music and need the space to rip more CD's and so forth.

Help. :(

Unfortunately, there's no way to do this in iTunes itself, but since you're on a Mac, you should be in luck. I'd suggest heading over to check out Doug's AppleScripts (http://dougscripts.com/) for some possible solutions.

In fact, the List Folder Files Not Added (http://dougscripts.com/itunes/scripts/scripts07.php?page=1#listfolderfilesnotadded) script is probably a good start.

If you go to finder, music, itunes, the files should still just be in there under their respective artists and albums. Or use spotlight. This is assuming you can remember what you deleted, i know i have trouble remembering what's on my computer

Hope that helps.

I use this to find orphaned files. Old .tmp files from Podcasts etc. Keeps things clean and I use all the useful HD space for useful things.

iTunes Consolidator (http://homepage.mac.com/minge/itunesconsolidator/index.html)

It is only $4.95USD.

And check out this description, it is like you wrote it yourself.
iTunes Consolidator is an easy to use application for locating songs that have been removed from your iTunes Library. Have you ever deleted a song from iTunes but clicked "Keep Files" in iTunes? iTunes Consolidator finds those files and gives you the chance to change your mind.

Check it out.

that was perfect.
i downloaded the trial, and being a student and realizing that $5 can go towards a movie or a beer, i just took a screen shot of what it found and searched manually, now that I knew what to search for and deleted it that way.
Thanks for the help.
Peace
