MY 42 INCH PLASMA TV FELL OFF THE WALL A FEW MONTHS AGO AND ITS JUST SITTING ON MY FLOOR AND IVE BEEN CONTEMPLATING WHAT TO DO WITH IT

AND BECAUSE I KNOW ITS NOT WORTH FIXING IT , I JUST IMAGINED HOW KOOL IT WOULD BE IF I TURNED IT INTO FISH TANK WITH LIGHTS INSIDE IT AND SOME SOME COLORFUL EXOTIC FISH INSIDE

IF YOU GUYS HAVE ANY LINKS TO SITES WITH THE INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW THE iMAC VERSION WAS MADE IT WOULD BE A GREAT HELP

ALSO WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THE IDEA ? JUST IMAGINE THE PLASMA TV ON FLOOR STAND WITH EXOTIC FISH SWIMMING IN IT WITH COOL LIGHTING AFFECTS.

P.S. : IM USING CAPS BECAUSE I HAVE REALLY BAD EYES

FINE! BUT DON'T HURT EVERYONE ELSE'S EYES! INSTEAD USE:

"Control" plus "Scroll Up" or "Command" plus "Shift" plus "="

Yes, Neptune, there are many features and tweaks to enlarge the display of info on your Mac. I suggest checking them out so you don't have to type in all-caps.

Perhaps a member of the mod squad could merge these two threads?

How thick is the plasma?

That's what I was wondering. Would be like walking back and forth in a hall way. :D

Fish tank from a Plasma?? Might be better off buying a 20" LCD and playing finding Nemo on the screen, no? ;)

I thought that the fish tank had been created by a legacy Mac users, like this one?http://www.apple-history.com/images/models/plus.gif

I could be wrong though...

Thats the problem. With aquariums, it's not the volume that is the most important thing, it is surface area. Without much surface area, there won't be sufficient exchange of gases thus not enough oxygen getting into the tank.

You might be able to have a betta in there with a small air driven sponge filter but even then, unless it is at least 4" thick, the betta wont be able to turn around too easy.

The bigger issue is how the heck did you let your plasma fall off the wall?

Well its about 5 inches thick and when its gutted you could modify it to be a bit thicker , but the fish would have enough room to swim up and down and turn around

but you gotta understand that i was staring at the plasma on the floor last night just thinking about what im going to do with it when i buy the new , and i was thinking i could put it on a stand and maybe do something with it to make it look pretty in the living room then the fish tanks idea came about.

Just what I was thinking

I was told its because i forgot to check the walls every six months to make sure it was tight and the tv has been sitting there for 3 years , but i dont remember anyone saying i would have to tighten the screws every so often , and i guess the vibration over the years from the surround sound system is what did it.

Actually, how about putting it on the curb as trash -- not in he box but in plain sight... and secure it to something. It could be a lot of fun watching a lot of people trying to take a "curbed" large-screen plasma! :lmao:

If you want an aquarium , get an aquarium.
http://www.bizarreaquariums.com/

If you want a TV, buy a TV.

There is a good chance the TV will leak or add toxic material to the water.

You can make up for lack of surface area by moving a lot of air through the water in the form of air pumps and bubblers. Ever see those thin "fish walls"? I remember at the Nike store in Chicago, the entire wall behind the shoe display was a very thin fish tank.

As for me, I would chuck that thing in the garbage as soon as I could. Having it sit there as a mocking reminder of my financial loss would be too much to bear.
