I'm considering getting a 30 gig iPod as a li'l old gift for myself over the upcoming Christmas break, to serve as big sibling to my white rev A 2 gig Nano.

I like the looks of the black model quite a bit, but wonder if it shows fingerprints & scuffs more easily than the white one. I remember when the Nano was first introduced the black model seemed more prone to showing dirt & damage than the white model, and wonder if the larger iPod is just as prone.

Advice & comments, anyone?

My daughter's friend has a black iPod, and it REALLY shows fingerprints and smudges. Too bad, :( because it really is good looking otherwise. I'd go for white.

I think you're going to want to get a case for it anyways.. ipods in general scratch very easily. save yourself the headache if you're worried about fingerprints and get a case!!!

If you're going to watch movies on it get black. Better contrast between the screen and the player.

If you want the black and don't want it to scratch, get a scratch cover for it, they're like $10 for 2. I have a white one, the front has no scratches and I've had it for over 6 months now. All the abuse goes to the cover and they're actually really good, since even they don't have a scratch, I'm still on my first sheet, with no noticeable scratches. Back side is another story.

A case is the answer to avoiding scratches regardless of the colour (though black is better). The downside is that pretty soon I'm going to be buying my third case, since the first two have succumbed to a variety of scratches, smudges, and general wear and tear.

Normally I'd say get the Black since I have and like mine,
But if you want the Apple iPod accessories to match then get the White iPod.
My Apple iPod Radio Remote for example comes only in white, Ditto with the headphones.

White for sure! Because its not only Apples signature color but it looks much cleaner.

Go for the unusual. The U2 iPod is back, and is as ever hands down the sexiest looking iPod out there. I've got the old one (pre-photo generation), and it looks great.

The new U2 is only $30 more than the regular one, iirc (it used to be $50 more, which was offset by the $50 gift certificate you got towards the 'Complete U2' on iTunes).

Well, I bought a white one today. Hello gorgeous. :)

if your concerned about dirt dust ect ect, take a look at black and white cars tell me wich one looks dirty wich looks clean.
