Any one else have this issue? I'm having to push the plug into the port quite firmly to get it to contact and have the green/orange LED light up. It used to be that the magnetic force would pull it enough to make satisfactory contact.

Your adapter may have been become de-magnetized. I would call AppleCare to find out for sure, or bring it into an Apple Store to have them look at it.

It's not happening to me, still sucks the adapter strongly and firmly into place.

Oh, it still holds the adapter quite firmly through magnetic force. But I'm having to push it in with a bit more force until it contacts enough to light up.

It's possible the little springy contacts on the plug that goes into the socket have become dirty and are not as springy as they should be to make contact. Unplug it from the wall and take a dry toothbrush to the contacts to make sure they are clean. Also use the toothbrush to clean the magsafe port on your MacBook to make sure it's clear of debris/dust.

Do you use the little plastic cap when you store or travel with your AC adapter? It's so easy to lose I know, but comes in handy to protect the plug from getting gunked up.

There have been issues with the pins and connection - we had one it would only connect when the portable was stood on edge so the pins woud "fall" into place.
Get it replaced.
