i had this problem with logic express and i was told that it was because i was using version 7.0, and that if i upgraded to 7.2 it would be fixed. now i am using logic pro 7.2 and i have the same problem. i am using os x 10.4.7 by the way.

if i have a track selected, the volume level randomly jumps up to either +3.1, +2.9, or +2.7. in LE it would go to +5.8. it happens if i am recrding, if i am playing, or even if the track is just sitting there doing nothing. if i have the volume at say 0, i leave the room and by the time i come back, the selected track has jumped up to +2.7 or something even though nothing was playing so it cannot be a recorded automation. plus, it happens with every track.

i am using a presonus firebox which i am starting to wonder if it is a part of the problem or not. any ideas? i am at a loss and i obviously can't mix this way. thanks.

are you using a controller?... if so... i would look there first.... sometimes the dust build up in my m-audio causes the slide triggers to go a wee bit wonky

Does it do this with EVERY song? You might have some track automation hidden on your track(s) that has been inadvertently put in. I have never used track automation, which is different from using midi controller 7 (midi volume). Any time I have tried it it's been strange to manage (for me, anyway) and midi controller data seems easier to manage (although Logic's track automation has a finer "graduation" than the midi spec's 0-127 range).

If you can't figure out how to open and manage track automation, check the manual. I don't recall how to and I must confess that it was confusing for me when I've tried. :o So, try opening up other Logic songs you have or create a BRAND NEW song and experiment on this new song to see if this condition exists universally. f it doesn't, then you've probably got track automation in the Logic file in question that you'll need to root out.
