But, they prefer not to include a picture -- at least in the three articles I read. This product is supposed to be released in a couple of months.

Can't they give it a rest?

I'm thinking this is a shot back at BootCamp. With BC released, many users are going to try the switch to Mac and they always have the Windows OS to fall back on. The keyboard and mouse, to me, seems to be their shot back at gaining some cash.

Lame.

Well, I think it's fine and all, myself, but WHY announce it so far in advance... and still not show a picture of it (there's nothing on Microsoft's "Mactopia" website).

To me, what's lame is their product release strategies -- from Vista on down!

Why are we wasting a thread on this?

Microsoft Hardware makes some of the best mice, as far as I'm concerned.

I definitely agree. I can easily overlook the Microsoft label when using my MS mice on my iBook. I like their keyboards as well, much preferred to Logitech.

Although the feel of the buttons on my Trackball Explorer are rattley and cheap feeling, I really like the form factor -- and those cheapo buttons have withstood years of constant use.

How about a left-handed mouse for a change?

Lame or not, it's better than trying to f*** Apple.

Maybe the 800 pound gorilla is trying to live with other platforms rather than just squashing them.

Time to pick on Microsoft. I went to this page and then selected the System requirements.

Mac OS X version 10.4x (excluding 10.0)

Ya, 10.4x would exclude 10.0. I also didn't realize that OS X was up in to the 10.40's. They should have had 10.4.x. Or perhaps they meant 10.x which would make the exclusion more sensible.

Users of Mac OS X v10.2.x must install enclosed IntelliType Pro and IntelliPoint software before connecting the hardware.
#
Users of Mac OS X v10.3.x must upgrade to Mac OS X v10.3.9 before connecting hardware OR install the enclosed IntelliType Pro and IntelliPoint software before connecting the hardware.

Most importantly:

Hard Disk Space
30 MB of available hard disk space

30 MB for keyboard software????? Maybe this is why Symantec is mad at Microsoft, they're stealing their MO.

;-)

any thoughts on why this wouldn't be a bluetooth model? says it needs usb, so i assume that means that it is supposed to plug in.

My current Keyboard/Mouse combo is the Microsoft Wireless Laser Desktop 6000. This package plays real well with OSX and the battery life (especially on the mouse) puts Logitech to shame. I had a tough time finding a balanced package the suited my needs and I was totally surprised by this package - especially from the mortal enemy, MS.

I use a Microsoft Comfort Optical 3000 at work and it is one of the nicest mice I have ever used. I am thinking of picking of up to go with my Macbook. Wish it came in BT though.

At least I also tossed in some reviews. Not a TOTAL waste of bandwidth...
