If that's for real it's pretty amazing.

Am I missing something? Are we talking about the driver in the middle? If so, he is doing what we were taught in young drivers of Canada -- even though you should come right up to the stop line, if your view to your left or right is obstructed, do so slowly and cautiously.

Hmmm.

Won't download at all for me.

All I get is the Quicktime "Q" logo, then it stalls completely.

Won't go on a MacBook. It loads, than a black strip apears and funky looking code comes up.

Hold down option when you click the link... you need to actually download the file to your desktop.

Watch the car zip through on the right empty lane. It's pretty crazy.

Check out the guy in the 4th lane from the left. I don't think that they teach that in YD! :D

Amazing!!! How did I miss that car zooming past everyone???? That was a real Hollywood student, although I have a feeling that this was not staged.

I see a slight break in the flow of the video. Could this have been done with some sort of video editing program rather than in real life?

Dr.G.
May 18th, 2006, 08:43 PM
No, the break seems to be that black van hitting the breaks as the idiot drive zooms past him/her.

Looks like he bounces off of someone slightly on the way through, too. Those of you who can't see it, are you doing as suggested, and downloading it first? ctrl-click/right-click and choose "download file". Then watch it. Or tell us if you ARE doing that and it still isn't working, 'cause I'm confused :)

GW, no, YDC did NOT teach us that sort of "defensive driving".

Probably, but I doubt it... watch the blue truck as the car zips by... then watch the family crossing the walk.

Thanks MannyP, that worked just fine. Wow! How he got between those two cars is a miracle!

Michael, where was the location in which this near accident nearly took place?

Man, that's messed up. That guy should have been toast, pulling a stunt like that. Must have been serious drugs.

At first I thought it was a fake but yes, if you go frame by frame, it looks legit. The driver is lucky to be alive, and just as lucky that he didn't kill anyone.

Wow, when I am 16, don't worry, I won't drive this bad.

Some people say it's Surrey BC. Others say Southern California--Santa Ana, Westminster and Harbor. Looks faked to me--but fun.

Judging by the complete lack of reaction from every other car it must be a fake. Looks very good though...

i'm just hosting the movie while my bandwidth holds out

and to repeat - you must download the actual file to your computer
for some reason it won't play from my website

i've played the movie back and forth with special attention to the car and it seems real as I saw the car's tires smoke and the SUV hit the brakes as the care passed in front of it

if it is fake, it's a very good job

Judging by the complete lack of reaction from every other car it must be a fake. Looks very good though...How do you expect everyone to react? That car was coming through very quickly, very few people would have seen it coming (and the black SUV was very lucky to be one that noticed), so that explains the lack of reaction before the car came.

After the car passed, what do you expect people to do? All the cars were going much slower (probably wondering what the hell just happened) and the pedestrians were looking where the car had gone. What else would there be to do? Stop in the middle of the intersection? Go chasing after the car? There was no collision, and the car was long gone.

I'm not saying it's definitely not a fake, I'm just saying the reactions were perfectly normal.

This video really disturbed me. Some of the things people do in cars are disgusting. If any of the cars in the intersection were a metre forward or backward when the black car came through, it would have been a horrendous sight. I would hate to imagine what would have happened to the bicyclist if they had gone through the intersection a bit later.

"Wow!!!" This was the reaction of my son to the clip. He too is a YDC graduate.

The people crossing the street react... the blue truck that the car zips by reacts... as do the vehicles that follow it.

I notice a flash of light in the top left corner just as the car is entering the intersection. Red light camera?

"Helped a guy pick up his face last fall, while a bunch of cheerleaders yelled at me from the sidewalk about how they knew more about emergency aid than I did. The modern practice of simply refusing to participate in life is starting to get to me. More fun to watch them build impractical hogs on TV than create the perfect omelette for yourself at home."

This is a sad part of reality today - there was a man down on the grass clutching his chest and rocking back and forth alongside one of our major roads. I could see him from at least 7 cars back. No one stopped until I did. A fellow with a van and another on a Harley stopped as they saw me with this poor fellow and the van driver took him to the hosptal.
