So I'm still waiting for my AcomData rebate from the Futureshop boxing day sale. The last time I contacted them (via their 800 #) was the end of March and was (of course) told that they were behind and the rebates for that time period would be heading out by mid-April.
I have (of course) not yet received my rebate and tried to phone them today. It's very strange, no matter if I try their 800 number (800 470 4495)or their local number (909 348-0680), there is no ring, no busy signal, no recorded message. The line just stays dead for ~30 seconds and then you get the fast "busy" signal. It's as if you have not dialed enough numbers and the line then automatically disengages. V. strange. Maybe their whole phone system is down today.
Anyway I thought I would post here and find out if anyone has actually received anything from them recently or even got through by phone.
I did send them an email which has not bounced, yet.

FWIW - I bought a AcomData 160GB HD from Compusmart back in August of last year and received my rebate at the beginning of this year. Yes, I did email them 12 weeks after submitting just to remind them. Sent an email to rebates@acomdata.com

Yes as I said I did email them and it has not bounced so hopefully that will help.
I tried their phone # again just now and of course it works. Maybe they just turn them off during business hours ...

Wow, I totally forgot about that. I don't think I ever received that rebate either. I'll have to check my bank statements. If not, then I'm exactly the kind of person they bank on so they can get away with not paying :D

I bought an Acomdata external drive in Aug. 2005 and got my rebate months later. But at least it came. Their tech support though seems to be made up of a guy who sends out terse and minimally explanatory emails.

I got a check today...for a hard drive I bought in October 2004. To be honest I had no idea what the check was for, I had to do a search to see...almost 2 years later I get the rebate check...I HATE mail in rebates, this is why.

Wow, that's a new twist! Send the cheque years later, hoping the customer has moved, never receives the cheque, and never cashes it!
I guess we should expect to see rebate cheques being sent (if ever), 70 years after submission, in hopes that the customer will by then be dead and not able to cash the cheque.
Friends don't let friends buy with mail-in rebates.

I had the same problem with the same 160 Gig Hard Drive and after going to CompuSmart and using their telephone I was able to talk to a person. After establishment my identity, through my telephone number, I was asked " do you want us to send you the rebate"?
I finally received my rebate about 3 weeks later.
