: Old books and equipment...what to do...

I'm a graphic designer and I've collected a fair number of books over the last few years. Some are textbooks (adverstising/copywriting) and some are design books (colour theory/awards annuals/magazines). I've also got some older equipment such as a USB zip drive and a colour printer that's only about 2 years old.

None of these things are useful to me any more but they are all in perfect shape and working order. I would hate to throw them away and I don't think anyone would pay for them so I'm wondering if anyone has any ideas about donating equipment or older books. I know everyone says this but I paid a lot of money over the last few years for all this stuff and like I said it's all in perfect condition. I just don't want to throw it away. Any ideas?

Check with your local Graphic designers society (RGD in Ontario, GDC (http://www.gdc.net/) in the rest of Canada) and ask them which design or art schools they would suggest for donation to.

See if there are any alternative schools in your area - I am sure the students would
would benefit.

In the Kitchener area there is the New Dawn School for teenagers who are having difficulties with the normal system - these kids are not in trouble with the law or anything else, just need a smaller, more one on one classroom.

Put a posting in craigslist.org for them. You'll get alot of response from that.
