: PowerMac G5 1.8 vs. iMac G5 1.9?

Hello everyone.

I've been patiently waiting for the Yorkdale Refub sale this weekend to try and pick up one of those iMac G5 1.9Ghz's for $899.

But... I recently learned that I can grab a PowerMac G5 1.8Ghz (Rev B) for $999 now at the U Of T bookstore.

Any thoughts as to what the better deal is? The iMac has the screen, more RAM, a better graphics card, a wee bit faster processor and a bigger HD. The only reason I can see the PowerMac being a better deal is the expandability... but with Intel's on the horizon, both machines are already a little obsolete.

Thoughts?

I was there a few weeks ago when the price was still 1499. They had at least 10 of those machines laid on the floor. They would probably be able to get rid of these at 999...

Tough decision for me now. I might go pick up a dual 1.25 G4 MDD with 9800 video card, 1.25GB of RAM and new keyboard together for around that price... should I pay the tax and get the single 1.8GHz G5 or stick with the G4? Thoughts?
