Hi folks,
I'm just curious if you can buy this ( http://www.123macmini.com/accessories/guide/enclosures.html) sort of Mac Mini-matching enclosure anywhere in Canada -- Montreal in particular.
I actually have an iBook G4, but i like the idea of combining a drive enclosure and a hub.
thanks in advance for any help.

You can buy the 80 and 160Gb LaCie mini (http://www.lacie.com/products/product.htm?pid=10476) Firewire drive "bases" at CompuSmart (I've seen them at the Scarborough store and they are also available for order on line from CompuSmart). These don't provide the extra USB or Firewire ports though and would look silly without sitting under a Mac mini. Haven't see the mini-like hubs yet.

If you interested in the Newer Technology ministack drive enclosure you can see the Canadain distributers here: http://www.newertech.com/map/canada.html

I could have sworn they integrated a USB/FW hub, but I guess I was mistaken.

Hey thanks for the responses thus far people. Unfortunately the none of the Newer Tech dealers listed for Canada seem to sell anything except iPod and PowerBook batteries. Maybe I'm wrong but the miniStack and MiniPal seem like good deals even for non-mac mini users because they include FW and USB2 hubs. And i need both a hub and a drive enclosure. Maybe it's possible to buy both components separately for the same price as the (it would seem Yankee-only) mac mini things?

I can't give you a direct link because it's a Java posting and it keeps
moving around their website.
www.cpused.com sells these:
http://www.macpower.com.tw/products/hdd3/m9/m9dx
They aren't cheap though at $149.
D :)

D :)I'm pretty sure that these M9/DX units are the same product as the NewerTech miniStack, just sold under a different name. Compare the above link to <a href="http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/ministack/" target="_blank"> this</a>. They look exactly the same to me.

Wow the CPUsed price is $45.00 higher than macsales.com when adjusted for inflation. Still it's very tempting. I hate getting customs surprises when ordering from the States. Thanks again for the info.

Consider that $45. difference as being the brokerage fee and some of the taxes,
Some things are just better buying from your own country.
