As much as i like the black look they are susceptible to scratches much more so than white.

Time to pull out the wallet... Question, why are Think Secret so sure of themselves

So I guess the powerbook won't be getting a complete re-design?

Because they'd have a really boring website if they said

Apple is releasing something this week. Not really sure what it is. Stay tuned. We'll tell you when it's official.

Not the type of thing that drives traffic.

It could happen, but it seems more likely this would come at the same time as the Intel processors.

The iPods were trailed for a while based on rumours about 40 Gig and 80 Gig drives. The next two logical levels of speculation (smaller enclosure and black case) are either educated guesses or genuine leaks. I'm not too worried about the 4Gig to 40Gig jump. Basically it divides the wold between those who want to carry their whole music collection with them and are prepared to carry around a bigger enclosure, v. those who are happy with a convenient player/sub-set. I think that to close the loop two further things may happen soon: make the Nano shuffle-feedable and allow the larger iPod 80 to connect directly to cameras.

Regarding the dual cores, I'm pretty sure that they will be released on Wednesday. The only thing that still tickles my imagination is why Apple would have such an event for what is, after all, fairly logical line extensions...

However my money remains on dual core (100% chance) and iPods (60%)...

Makes sense. We may also see some interesting pricing on the PowerMacs to keep sales going during the build to the Intel thing.

i still think something completely different is going to happen tommorow. something new.

why would they hold a media event to announce speed bumps and GB increases in the ipods.

i guess it would be more talk about the bumps, and the company - but it doesnt make sense.

I didn't say that. Either extreme is not good. Their other posts were never quite so confident though.

True, also, thinksecret stated that there would be 4 mac updates and 2 new iPods.

Doesn't quite fit in with 'one more thing...' does it.

Media Centre? iPhone? One more thing does not qualify speed bumps and never has. I'm thinking a new PB at the very least but something exciting and new for sure.

Hmmm.... I like the idea of the 80G iPod. The HD has been there all along, so it makes the most sense. Pretty curious re: the new Configs. I do know that Apple is not all that impressed with the ROKR, but I'm not sure that it would be announced so quickly. But, let's just wait and see...

I don't know why people are making such a big deal of it.

The red curtains don't have to connote something theatre/video related, they just happen to be the curtains at the venue. I think that an Airport Express w/Video would be reason enough to justify the 'behind curtains' effect.

I think that speed bumps and a 5G ipod are perfectly fine to reveal at the expo - its a 'one more thing' event, which means that its something on the side?

Jobs uses the line "one more thing" to denote the highlight of the event. So yes, it is going to be a big deal. I would be very surprised if it were merely speed/capacity bump(s).

Don't forget MWSF is a few months away, nothing big like dual core Powermacs can be announced, else what's he gonna say at that keynote? 'uh, yeah, iPod sales are going well, and, expect intel macs in june'.

I still think its an iPod event.

White headphones don't bother me anyway, first thing i do with every new iPod box is introduce the headphones to the trash can

I'm still waiting for a Shuffle update, but they're too profitable to motivate Apple to make a change :(. Colours would be nice, but specifically I'd like to see the 1gb replace the 512mb.

Not a chance, the 512mb sales are considerably higher than the 1gb sales.

Hey, they have engraving now :P

Hey everyone, was there any hoopla last year when the airport express came out - I don't recall. And the new Apple Mouse - that was HUGE news [b/c Apple was so defiant], but it was subtly announced. I think it would ahve to be more groundbreaking than an updated airport express ... IMHO.

Also, I can't stress enough: a switch from single-core PowerMacs to dual-core is NOT just a speed bump. The PPC 970 MP is indeed very hardcore and worthy of an event such as this or even a gala. This is a giant leap forward in computing. These machines would be much faster than the current line-up. So please, for the sake of my sanity do not call a switch to dual-core: "a speed bump" or merely an "update" ... this would be more significant than any iPod - video or otherwise. :)

I'm hoping Steve will keep saying "oh and there's one more thing" throughout the entire event so all our dreams may come true.
