I walk into york and realize that almost every other laptop is an ibook.

Any suggestions to "personalize" and customize the exterior?

Magic Marker.

Get some kindergardeners to draw on it.

just make sure you get a Mr Clean Magic Eraser :)

Actually. Weren't there some sort of coverings you could buy for ibooks? Like flames? Skulls?

Or the new AppleSpeed PowerBook. Supercharged Dual-Core 2.5Ghz G5 processor. In carbon fibre.

Here's (http://www.xlr8yourmac.com/systems/ibook_mods/ibook_paint_mod.html) one about scraping off the paint. Then you can paint it a different color. And here's (http://norum.homeunix.net/~carl/mods/paint/)more.

You could probably sand the exterior lightly, and deck it out with a new paint job.
And Intel Inside sticker would do the job.

since you are going to be decking out your ibook with every automotive accessory canadian tire has to offer, don't forget the air freshener.

Yes you can but the paint is not on the inside of the cover. You have to remove the outer shell and scrape of the paint from the inside and paint there.

And of course void your warranty.

When we got my sister and her husband identical iBooks, he promptly went to the nearest craft store and bought a sheet of ant stickers and plastered them all over his - my sister hates ants and wouldn't go near his computer after that :D

hey, I've got a deal for you. I have a barely used, blazing fast, Avaratec running WinXP - it's the same size as my PowerBook and if you squish up your eyes, it could be mistaken for a PowerBook and I'll trade you straight up for that iBook.

I'll even pay for shipping both ways :D

Man I am amazed macskinz stays in business, they have been working to bring back the skinz for ibooks and powerbooks for the last year or so. I have given up getting one.

Hmm maybe the magic marker idea is good.... ;)

Edit - Oh boy, just read the reason (http://www.macskinz.com/MACSKINZ/story.html) they have had delays. Wow I am impressed they have kept with it.

seriously though, you a hot mod, do what that cat did with the iPod, and give it some wood paneling somewhere.

And I say this simpply because I got my hands on this watch that I wanted badly from Nixon - and the watch is made entirely of wood: walnut panels to be precise.

http://www.nixonnow.com/prod_images/12324-ROTO_H.jpg http://www.nixonnow.com/prod_images/12334-ROTO_M.jpg

I get stopped errrrwhere I go with this thing. So, that's my mod suggestion. But I am glad to see more and more with the iBooks. It's such an awesome lap. :D

I can see it now, nail on some plywood, slap on some redwood deck stain and away you go.

You would get stopped a lot and asked "what's in the box?"

does anyone know if the lids for that old ibook will fit on the latest version? If so then you could paint it how you like it stick it on your new ibook. Anyone thought of trying this?

Canadian Tire has a wide range of decals. I was thinking of getting one for my kids iBook. Lots of flame options but I was more interested in the Japanese characters. You might want to check them out.

Yes they are. But I believe they are easily removable. Obviously you will want to review any application procedure before deciding what goes on your iBook.

Some super sweet i and power book mods here. the Eve is my personal fave. I'm thinking about doing similar with the paint scheme. Not the girl tho.. but the paint is super sweet.

If I ever do it, I'll post it as my avitar ;)

and yes, it does void the warrenty pretty good , but imagine the look on the service guy's face when he gets that in :D

What about making a design then taking it to a print shop and get it printed onto stickers? Etch something into the case, do the Apple colour replacement, paint, umm is the plastic clear or white? if you can somehow get the white off the clear plastic you could put a different colour in.. a Black iBook would look pretty friggin sweet.
