So i want to get some more ram this weekend for the ibook, but this is my first time removing the keyboard...

I tried taking it off today but i can't get it! I'm thinking the lock is not unlocked, but i've tried turning it all directions. My question is, when your ibook keyboard is unlocked is the line going up and down or side to side??

On my ibook, it is unlocked when it is horizontal. That being said, when flipping up the keyboard, there is a bit of resistance getting it out and even back in again -- even pushing in the two tabs, there is still a bit of a catch.

i've taken mine off exactly 4 times. i had trouble figuring out the screw latch thingy the first time. simply turning the screw doesn't work.

when unlocked, the screw groove should be parallel with the top edge of the keyboard. once that is done, put the screwdriver in the groove and use it to pull the latch toward you - it is a spring loaded sliding mechanism, so you will have to find a way to keep it slid toward you.

next, i did the latch on the right, but i had to use the screw driver to lever that side of the keyboard out. don't worry about the left side while you do this - just do one side at a time. next repeat for the left side. you can let go of the right side while doing this as the left side won't pop back in.
