: Slow boot time

My iBook G4 with 768mb of RAM takes a long time to boot - it seems to have changed recently. I have about 10GB of 30 free on my HD - would that have anything to do with it?
I'm going to run Onyx and repair permissions - anything else I should do? I was thinking if might have to do with the amount of fonts I have installed?
Thoughts?

You might end up with the same crappy understanding that Mac OSX is really crappy when handling fonts... more than 150 in the system, and forget about it! Get suitcase or some other app to deal with the fonts, if you determine that it is the fonts.

Well I upgraded to 10.3.8, ran onxy, repaired permissions, even scanned for viruses, used font doctor, and I still get a long boot time. I have 250 fonts. Maybe I'll try suitcase.

WelI have 250 fonts.
I'm telling you that's the prob... Win OS 98se and up can handle without any probs over 1000 fonts.... crappy Mac OSX....
