: Senior Graphic Designer looking for work
mkurtes Dec 4th, 2003, 04:36 PM Hi all! I am a senior graphic designer looking for work. I prefer freelance but will also consider full time however it must be in the GTA. I currently work for a well known design firm in the Mississauga area but am looking to share my talent elsewhere. Anyone have any suggestions as this is a pretty saturated field? My main area is corporate branding or anything to do with print.
JumboJones Dec 6th, 2003, 04:57 PM I don't have any leads on jobs, but would be interested in any advise you may give a recent graduate junior graphic designer to get started in this industry.

Cheers,
Tyrone

That would be advice and I'd advise you to be methodical in weeding those "oops" out when trying for a design job ;)
Mainly teasing you but a real caution as you likely will get proof reading as a good portion of entry level work and ou don't want to trip on the way in.
Email me I might have a lead.

When I graduated from an Advertising course I ended up
being a file clerk for a firm called Phantasmagoria in
Toronto, I quit after a month.
Somehow being a starving artist was more appealing at the
time, Wished I'd stuck it out though.
I ended up going on to college and became a sucessful
college educated starving artist. ;)

TroutMaskReplica Dec 9th, 2003, 08:00 AM I had to work in a ****-proof-cow-matress-cover factory before I landed my first gig. Boy am I glad to be outta there! Persistance and tenacity are key, almost moreso than talent. Keep at it and you'll get there.

oger Dec 10th, 2003, 11:19 PM Good luck with the job hunt. I was at one time going to go into the graphic design field and often wondered what would of happened if I did.I can imagine the learning curve if you learnt your skills before computers became dominant.
