Hi, I'm thinking of buying a Canon Z60 digital video camera because it has an analog to digital feature. I have some Hi8 tapes I would like to edit in Final Cut Express. My question is will FCE recognize the video feed from my old camera when it is passed through the Z60? Or would it be better to edit down the Hi8 video onto DVtapes and then edit in FCE? Finally does anyone have an opinion on the Canon Z60? Video editng is all new to me, thanks in advance for any advice.

It would be better to DAC the video before importing it to FCE. Get it off of the hi-8 and then from the camera import it, this will be better because you'll be able to control the camera's clip start and end import times, whereas on your hi-8 its just press play and capture clip at the same time and hope for the best.

the z60 is a good entry level, i think my buddy has one and he doesnt bitch about it, so i guess that means something
