Neil Armstrong, The First Man On The Moon, Dead At 82 (http://jalopnik.com/5937863/neil-armstrong-the-first-man-on-the-moon-dead-at-82)

Astronaut Neil Armstrong, the first person to walk on the moon, has passed away NBC Nightly News reported in a tweet moments ago. He was 82. The cause was complications from heart surgery three weeks ago.

Often misidentified, the image below is of Buzz Aldrin, taken by Neil Armstrong (who you can see reflected in Aldrin's visor).

wow, now we will never know if they actually landed on the moon or not...or what they saw out in space.
[i think it was a conspiracy to silence him. ]

How sad. He was always very private about being the first person to walk on the moon. His courage shall be missed.

That walk seems just like yesterday to me. How time flies. Thanks for the adventure, Neil. RIP.

Yeah - quite a life. Did he not go into space again not long ago as part of test of some sort???

All too true. It is hard to be the first at such an event. "Heavy is the head that wears the crown."

To a kid in elementary school, he was like Captain Kirk, only real.

You're thinking of John Glenn (first American to orbit the earth, and still kickin' at 91), who went up on STS-95 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/STS-95) in 1998.
