Hey everyone,
My video card (ATI Radeon x1900) just died on my Mac Pro 2,1 8 core 3 ghz computer. Could someone help me by providing a few options of current video cards that will work as a replacement. Many of the options that were available seem to be discontinue and hard to find. Thanks in advance for any help.

ATI Radeon HD 5770 Graphics Upgrade Kit for Mac Pro (Mid 2010) - Apple Store (Canada) (http://store.apple.com/ca/product/MC742ZM/A/ati-radeon-hd-5770-graphics-upgrade-kit-for-mac-pro-(mid-2010).
Requires 10.6 or later. Works with all Mac Pro models.

thanks, and this for sure would work with older mac pro models. I think that mine is 2008 or 09. I only ask because the purchase page says mid 2010. Any NVIDA options?

the 5770 & 5870 should work on all generations.
if the 2,1 identifier # on your mac pro is correct then it's for all intents and purposes the same as a first gen mac pro (which means the 32 bit EFI), but with a bumped up processor . There are less graphic card options out there for your model - the 7300 is the least powerful, then the x1900, and then a 8800 (but the 8800 has to be a specific model to run on first gen mac pros). Those were the original cards offered (as well as a Quadro card)
I think the 3870 & 4870 might also work (don't quote me on that), but probably the easiest to get would be the 5770.

I'm happily using a 3870 in my 1,1.
I have the old 7300 here as a back-up. Will sell it if you need it, but I would not recommend it. It's a weak card and really strains under two-monitor support.

8800 GT in my Mac Pro 1.1, works great !!! Got it on eBay $125.00.

I have an old X1900 that should be in working condition as it was when I upgraded it. You could have it real cheap. PM me if you are interested.

Mine failed recently as well 2008 Mac pro. I put in the 5770, for he money it's the bet option.

Thanks for the replies. I'm currently living in South America so unfortunately it is hard to get parts here. I'll see which of these options I can drum up. Thanks to all for the input.
