: How much Mbps required for smooth wireless streaming

I'm currently on Bell's Fibe 6 and don't do much streaming only occasionally watching a few YouTube clips on my MacBook Pro.

But I'm in the process of adding an AppleTV and possibly an iPad. With my contract coming up for renewal, I'm wondering what sort of speeds I'll need for smooth streaming.

Would my current Fibe 6 be enough or should I be looking at something more like 15mbps speeds? Also, would a dual-band N router be necessary as my current one is a G-rated router?

At my cottage we only get roughly 2Mb/sec (usually less) and I can stream Netflix and Amazon video (through a VPN) on my iPad without issue. Using the wireless built into the Sympatico modem.

It also depends on what other Internet activity you expect to have happening simultaneously. I couldn't stream Netflix while communicating on Skype and my kid plays WoW on his computer.
