Transferring my whole family over to Apple. Bad news is I have to deal with Lion. Trying to install a Dynex bluetooth mouse on my father in law's brand new 13 in MBP base model, Lion 10.7.4 everything updated, permissions fixed ect.
Installs fine on my old MBP with Snow Leopard.
Lion gives me a 'device refused connection' error.
An Apple keyboard is recognized, installs and works fine.
Tried with Mountain Lion on every computer I could at the Apple Store. Same thing. The mouse is seen but Lion and Mountain Lion refuse to pair with it.
Tried a current iMac with SL on one partition and Lion on the other. Recognized and paired fine. Booted into the Lion partition and the mouse was already there and worked fine. Are bluetooth pairings written directly to the bluetooth chip?
Deleted the mouse and tried to install it in the Lion partition and it would not pair. So it seems Lion will allow the mouse to be used but will refuse to pair initially with it.
Is there a way to manually pair the mouse by editing the pref pane?
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Apple mouse is not an option as moving to the Mac is a big deal for him and a regular mouse with buttons and a scroll wheel will ease the transition.
