I have a very strange problem that I cant seem to fix. I've googled for a solution and all I ever find is people complaining about the same problem but no solutions are offered.

My iphone, ipad and my brother's macbook pro cant seem to stay connected to the internet. They show they are connected to my home wifi, but the internet will suddenly stop working. On my iphone/ipad 2, turning airplane mode on and off will usually bring back the internet, sometimes for 5 minutes, sometimes for 30 seconds before the internet stops working again. My brother uses a network cable as a solution. Obviously thats not possible for the iphone and ipad.

I'm at my wits end. My windows laptops never exhibit this behavior. My girlfriend's android also never does this and she can stay connect all day.

Apple support says its my router that needs replacing, even though I explain to them that its only apple products that do this.

Any one have any leads?

What kind of router do you have?

Cisco dpc3825. This is a cable modem/wireless router supplied by rogers. Another reasons why i cant follow apple's suggestion to "replace it"

You can quite easily replace it as the router, and I would definitely suggest it. Those Cisco boxes don't work well at all with Macs. I've seen it with several clients, and the easiest solution by far is to use it as a dumb modem, with a better device as the router.

I definetely sounds like an issue with your router not liking Macs. If it was just one Apple product maybe there was something defective there, but for multiple or all Apple devices in your house to not work while windows does means it something router end.

If its supplied by rogers, as in you are renting it, you should be able to swap it for a different one without any hassle.
