Well 'ello again there fine peeps of ehMac!

I'm toying with the idea of selling my Mac Pro sometime in the near future... or possibly right now if the selling price and timing is right. But I've run into a bit of a dilemma -- I'm not really sure how much my machine is worth.

As mentioned in the title, it's a cheese-grater cased Mac Pro here are the quick specs

2x2.66GHz Dual-Core Intel Xeon processor
7GB of 667MHz DDR2 RAM (2x2GB, 2x1GB and 2x512MB -- All Paired FB-DIMMs with those huge hotsinks on them)
NVIDIA GeForece 7300 GT 256MB PCIe video card (1xDual Link DVI and 1xDVI)
Standard stuff (AirPort 802.11n, Bluetooth, Optical Audio In/Out, Analog Audio In/Out, Headphone Out, SuperDrive, 2xFW800, 2xFW400, 5xUSB2.0, 2xEthernet)
3x1GB SATA and 1x500GB SATA drives

I am the original owner -- purchased it directly from the Apple Online Store. I've never had any problems or issues with the machine despite having spent quite possibly the better part of the last few years working on it. Actually... I can't even remember the last time I had any sort of crash or error or glitch that required a restart.

All the fans are working perfectly, sensors show temps well bellow recommended heat limits even during intensive use. All of the RAM FB-DIMMS have been thoroughly vetted and checked. The machine has always been powered through a decent UPS or for a few brief periods a ultra high-end surge protector[1]

The main reason I'm considering selling it is because I'm in and out of the office so much these days that it's really not getting the same kind of use anymore. I use my MacBook more than 90% of the time... So... I figured I'd see how much I can get for my ol' Beast and put that towards a nice shiny new Apple notebook.

Anyhoo... what do you think peeps? what's a reasonable asking price for a private sale? also, what do you think I could get for it if I did a "trade-in" sort of thing with a Apple Retailer?

Let me know! And thanks!

[1] Any surge protector that comes with a lifetime warranty and issuance coverage of up to $2 million classifies as "ultra high-end" to me. :D

On GTA craigslist today: one with 4GB of RAM for $700. With 10GB of RAM, $1100. Somewhere between strikes me as reasonable. I paid $1200 for my 3.0 GHz machine two years ago.

Hey Froggy-san, this section is for items that are 100% for sale, not for items that are possibly being considered for sale.

For price check / selling advice, post in the main Classified forum here (http://www.ehmac.ca/classifieds/).

I'll move this thread there for now. Thanks. :)
