: Keep Macbook Pro or get a 27inch iMac?

I'm contemplating on whether to keep my MBP 2010 15' or get a 27inch iMac + purchase two external 24inch montors to hook up to it.

I very rarely take my MBP anywhere. I run my business from my home office and I feel like having 3 large monitors would be easier on my eyes + increase my productivity.

So if I did get the iMac 27 with two external 24inch monitors then I would sell my MBP.

What are your thoughts on this? should I make the change?

(P.s. if anyone has a iMac 27inch that they are thinking of selling, hit me up!)

Yeah true.. though I can't make my mind up for some reason. I really like my MBP...but a full desktop 27inch iMac would be easy to work on (so I think)

I never thought I'd get rid of my desktop setup, but it's been a couple years now since I've been running only on my MBP. For desktop use, I have it connected to a 24" display, and, I get portability when I need it. I don't think I'd ever go back to a native desktop. That's my take on it.

We were working on a mbp, we wanted more real estate and bought a mini and a display. We went to dual monitors/mice/keyboards so we could use the same machine from either desk and just recently moved the setup to a 24" iMac and we would never go back to a laptop for the office now.

You could always keep the MBP and just add a 27" monitor to it when using it at home. That gives you the added desktop space you're craving but still leaves you with a computer you can take with you when/if you need to travel.

I would have thought the same thing a while ago, but I would find the regular transition from 15" display to 24" display a nuisance as I work away. I would opt to keep the mbp if in the budget but for office work get the large displays and iMac.

The 27" is brilliant display but be careful of lighting and it is pretty high dpi.

Running a single matte 30" might be the easiest on the eyes in an office and still give you the portability.

yes, i agree, simply adding a display is a good option, but you are right, moving back and forth is a bit annoying having to change your program windows sizes, but if money is an issue, it's well worth it
