Dear all,

I have a Macbook pro bought around July in 2011.

I like to upgrade the HD to SSD.

I like to ask an expert to help me to install this.

My questions are:
1) where I can find an expert or apple authorized store near university of toronto for this?
2) which SSD is more reliable and how much?
3) can I switch the original HD to optical disc slot?

Thanks for your help.

Have you asked the U of T Computer Store? They are an Apple Authorized Service Centre. I've taken my stuff there for years and always received top notch service.

Carbon Computing (772 Queen St. East) is always a good bet. The most reliable SSD is probably OWC's (http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/SSD/OWC/). I recently bought a Mushkin from NCIX and that seems to be fine; Mushkin seems to lean towards the Mac community with their products. If you check NCIX's sale section, they have a Mushkin 240GB for $169 and a 120GB for $87. I believe there are kits available that would allow you to do (3). If there are, OWC would have them for sure.
