So my macbook pro from early 2008 (not unibody) has begun to run hot, emit a constant grinding noise, and the keyboard will sometimes be unresponsive on startup. When I boot up only the trackpad works (not including the trackpad button). As well, when I shut the lid, put it on sleep, my computer will not turn back on when I pull the screen back up. I'm forced to hard restart. Lastly, on rare occasion I get this happening:

Faulty Macbook Pro Screen Black Lines. - YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DQIEGj_hpFY)

These problems have all creeped up probably over the last few weeks only.

What do you guys think could be causing these problems? I installed smcFanControl and it says both fans are running at 2005 RPM. Could the issue be the fans are just dirty and I should open up my laptop and hit them with some compressed air?

Could the unresponsive keyboard on startup be related to the overheating issues?

The expert you need is on ehMac: "The G3 Man," to whom I sold my early 2008 MacBook Pro. He's a tech. He installed a new hard drive in my old computer, thermal pasted, etc. and it runs even better than before--and it was immaculate before. He's Apple certified.

My guess is a failing hard drive (back up now!) which is overheating and causing the screen problems, which may also be a logic board problem, which would be unfortunate and expensive.
