I am looking at a docking station for hard drives. I have multiple drives that I like to swap in and out when needed. Currently I have a 2 bay one, its nice, except that if you remove one drive, it shuts the other off. So I was looking for a solution and found this model:
Canada Computers | Hard Drive Enclosures | Mediasonic (HFD1-SU3S2) ProBox 4 Bay Dock USB 3.0 & eSata for 2.5" / 3.5" SATA HDD (http://www.canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=14_679&item_id=045343)

Checking out the manufactures website shows that it does what I want as each dock is powered. Each dock is powered only via esata it states on the website. I am going to be getting a Belkin thunderbolt adapter, which has esata on it. Will an adapter through thunderbolt to esata work with this so I can swap drives without them all getting disconnected?

I do not think it will work because your Mac would need to have native (host) eSATA support of port multiplier function which it doesn't if you are using TB. If you have one of the Mac Pros with USB 3.0 then you could use it, a little drop in speed but still decent.
