Hello!

I'm running a white Macbook 3.1 / 2.2gHz core 2 duo with 6 GB RAM. As I mentioned in another battery related thread, I recently complained at Apple and got a brand new battery. I cycled/calibrated my battery twice when I received it and it's on it's third cycle so it's pretty much as new as new can be.

However, I just unplugged the power adapter and I'm only running safari with only one window open (the one I'm typing in) and it said I have 2 hours and 11 minutes remaining. I even tried quitting audio galaxy, dropbox and smc fan control. I'm using the default apple power saver settings with the screen at 3/4 brightness and I don't have a CD or DVD in the superdrive, bluetooth is turned off and I'm pretty much only using wi-fi. I seem to remember getting better battery life, what gives? A weird thing happened though, the first time I calibrated the battery, when I plugged it in to recharge it, it calculated that there was 20 hours left to recharge (screenshot below). Am I dealing with a faulty battery.

Another weird thing is that I leave my laptop on with no apps aside from "system tray" apps like dropbox, audiogalaxy helper and SMCfancontrol and when I get home, I find my Macbook running at about 70 celcius. Why is my processor heating up so much if it's basically idling and doing nothing? Should I reset the SMC? Flash the NVRAM? Any suggestions are appreciated, thanks.

Open activity monitor and check CPU usage.
Also check your battery status with coconut battery.
