Joker Eh Jul 11th, 2012, 12:07 PM Is the colour you choose for your car an indicator of your personality? Apparently so. Read the car colours and the associated personality and let us know what you think! Mine is red.

Nothing unless you think it does... personally I don't so it doesn't.
I get the best deal on the best car that I am looking for and I couldn't give a rat's a** about its colour.... with the exception that since I don't work for Mary Kay I would paint it if it were pink.
jamesB Jul 11th, 2012, 12:16 PM same for me, I end up buying whatever is on the lot, except red, when I decide to go truck shopping.
BTW, does the fact I haven't owned a car since 1960, only trucks also say something?

groovetube Jul 11th, 2012, 01:00 PM "Silver cars are usually owned by cool, calm and slightly detached drivers"
cool calm? Heh. Nope :)
bryanc Jul 11th, 2012, 02:14 PM I got a pretty good deal on a car once because it was an unpopular colour and a standard transmission. The dealer wanted it off his lot and sold it too me for less than his invoice cost :)
Kazak Jul 11th, 2012, 02:44 PM I own two vehicles: one grey, one red. That makes me calm, sober, dedicated to work, energetic, fast talking, fast moving, and fast thinking. Well, two out of six ain't bad.
I think.
CubaMark Jul 11th, 2012, 02:50 PM Bought my Mexican Beetle sight-unseen (yeah, I know, and I'm still paying for that mistake)... so I can't be judged by the colour. Which is Black, by the way. With flaming heads on the sides and "METALLICA" stencilled across the back bonnet. Fortunately (!) a couple of weeks ago some punks keyed it ALL OVER, so we'll have to put it in for a paint job.... probably sticking with Black just because it'll be an easier job...
Here it is pre-keyed... and obviously, a photo from shortly after we bought it, because I'm still smiling...
Dr.G. Jul 11th, 2012, 03:26 PM "Red cars are driven by energetic people who are fast talkers, movers and thinkers" .............. and socialists.:D
I have a red 2004 Toyota Echo.
rgray Jul 11th, 2012, 05:05 PM Figures such a stupid and useless piece would be in the Sun - natural home of the illiterate. Look around. Most white vehicles are fleet vehicles.
Mckitrick Jul 11th, 2012, 09:00 PM I call BS on this.. Just thinking of people I know and how they drive and the colours of vehicles they have, not one of these statements bears any truth.
kps Jul 11th, 2012, 10:35 PM My guess...borrowed from some 1962 psych experiment about personality types and preferred colours. Nothing to do with cars...it could have been shirts.

this is all BS and I will agree with you..
The color people drive is basically whatever deal they got from the dealer at the time of what was available.
I know a few people that drove teal or sky blue.. - I know for sure it was not their first choice but 'deal' of the day .. LOL
I drive a white (Calcite white ) car - because i think it takes the longest to dirty and looks great on that car.. Wife drives metallic grey SUV because it looks great in that color and takes a while to get dirty as well.
I remember when insurance companies - would rate red cars higher than others because people were to drive faster etc..- well that is false, when I had a red car, i drove normally and my insurance was fine.
Buy the color you love and you will be fine.

One could say the same about skin color: most black people I know are empowered personalities and not easily manipulated, while most of the blue people I know are introspective and cautious. Jury's still out on the chartreuse people though.

Not as much as your reasons for avoiding red. Very strange…tell me about your childhood.

Most of the blue people I know either perform on stage to weird music or are in desperate need of the Heimlich maneuver... :lmao:
Sonal Jul 13th, 2012, 10:50 AM I totally wanted a purple car, but all they had was blue. Should I repaint to match my personality?

That's up to you and whether or not the expense will make you happy... if it does then go for it.
