Laugh if you will, but one of our dachshunds nearly became airborn when I took her out during Hurricane Igor here in St.John's a few years ago and a 133km/h wind gust hit her at just he right angle.

I always tell dog owners please keep your pets leashed for a reason..

True .............. but bassett hounds have my doxies beat when it comes to the length of ears and launching in the wind.

No, that is what a bassett hound's ears are like. As pups, they step on them when trying to walk. mrjimmy is a bassett hound owner, so he might verify the accuracy of that picture.
