: As the wheel turns, so are the days of ehMax's life... Another new journey.
ehMax Jul 7th, 2012, 01:34 PM Hey ehMacians... just wanted to send you another personal update. Back in March (http://www.ehmac.ca/everything-else-eh/99543-ehmax-back-black-return-mac-industry-carbon-computing.html), I updated everyone on my personal career journey.
I thought I'd send another note regarding another career update for the Mayor. :) As of July 16th, I will be starting a new company doing iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch repairs and will be ending my current position. There will be local repairs offered in the Kitchener-Waterloo-Cambridge, Ontario area as well as the option for Canadians to mail-in devices for repair. I will have more exciting details at the time of launching the company.
We're also looking for some other enthusiastic iPhone, iPad and iPod touch repair technicians across Canada for those who either be interested in doing repairs part-time, or making a full-time career of it. If you are interested, please send me a PM, and I will get you some more information!
ehMac will continue to run as normal, and I'll actually have a little more flexibility again with my time to devout to the site and some of the long-promised updates and improvements. :o

There are a few players in the market for sure. No, my company will not be an iRepair franchise, but it will be in someway involved with a larger company that I haven't worked with until this point.
Locally, I have a very big network of friends and piers who have pledged to send referrals my way... from other stores, Universities, to heads of IT at several larger companies and even school boards. It's very much a word-of-mouth business. Shortly after launch, there will be a referral program as well.
The business will have a 100% customer satisfaction guarantee, only original Apple OEM parts used, and an absolutely insane warranty that will blow away what any competitor offers. :)
ehMax Jul 7th, 2012, 02:51 PM Will you be replacing batteries for 2nd gen iPod Touches?
Yes, we'll do iPod touch 2nd gen battery replacements. Price will be substantially less than through Apple. Send me a PM. :)
There will also be discounts for ehMac members of course! :)
macintosh doctor Jul 7th, 2012, 02:58 PM But hopefully you will pick up your phone and returns voicemails. Unlike irepair which hardly picks up and never returns calls and voicemail is full
kps Jul 7th, 2012, 04:37 PM Best of luck to ya, Mayor.
Dr.G. Jul 7th, 2012, 06:27 PM Bonne chance, Mr. Mayor. Paix, mon ami.
ehMax Jul 8th, 2012, 03:35 PM Thanks everyone.
Will be sure to make returning calls (If I can't answer right away) and returning emails and other messages a very top priority. If only at the very least to let you know I got your call or message, and it's in the queue.
I hate calling a business and not getting a reply back, or at least an acknowledgement that my message was received and I'm in some sort of queue with an estimated time-frame to get a response.
Macfury Jul 8th, 2012, 03:49 PM Thanks everyone.

It's important. I have had cash in hand ready to buy something, but cut out my first choices because they failed to return a call or answer an e-mail.
eMacMan Jul 8th, 2012, 05:44 PM Good luck with your new venture. :)

Hmmmm, iPhones, iPads and iPod Touches are not Mac related? I guess you really do learn something every day! :D
Good luck with those non Mac related repairs though. ;)

You know what I mean. :)
PS... Just FYI why I post these career updates. I just thought it pertinent to previously disclose that I worked for an independent Apple Reseller, as I just wanted to provide "full disclosure" running a Canadian Mac site and working for a Reseller. Now that I won't be working for an Apple Reseller, I just wanted to update everyone. (And plug the upcoming iPhone repair business :o )
It's not that I find my career moves that interesting or think everyone will find it intriguing. :o If anything, being almost 40 and still career searching is a little embarrassing.
Just trying to heed my hero, Steve Job's advice:
D1R-jKKp3NA
You've got to find what you love. And that is as true for your work as it is for your lovers. Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven't found it yet, keep looking. Don't settle. As with all matters of the heart, you'll know when you find it. And, like any great relationship, it just gets better and better as the years roll on. So keep looking until you find it. Don't settle.
Staying hungry, and staying foolish. :)
SINC Jul 9th, 2012, 09:00 PM You know what I mean. :)
Of course, thus the big grin. ;)
