: My Kid's teeth are growing in like shark teeth - 2 rows
macintosh doctor Jul 5th, 2012, 10:16 AM I have never seen this before.. but my kid has two rows of teeth, as the front pop the back row move into the new holes.. I have been watching this act of nature for over 2 weeks and I am speechless.. I have never seen someone with two rows of teeth before..
Nor did I expect the back row to move into to place.
of course wife blames my genetics for it.. LOL.
I hope I don't have to pay for braces :-(

Macfury Jul 5th, 2012, 10:21 AM That's usually the new teeth coming in before the last ones fall out. One of my nephews has it worse-some baby teeth have no adult teeth behind them.

JCCanuck Jul 5th, 2012, 10:28 AM Ooops postings above makes more sense than my input.
macintosh doctor Jul 5th, 2012, 10:53 AM I think the other one is loose - also I catch my kid playing with it all the time.. I will keep an eye on things - if it is not loose I may have to take him to the dentist.. or wiggle it out..
hoping the next set up teeth will be normal.. old out first and new in after.
screature Jul 5th, 2012, 11:51 AM Time to go to the dentist for an X-ray. I had a girl friend who had an additional row of upper teeth that had to be removed when she was a kid. I'm not saying that is the case with your son but only by going to a dentist and getting an X-ray can you know for sure what is going on and it is much easier to correct sooner than later. And if it is the case your wife is right it is genetics but not necessarily yours. ;)

Sorry didn't mean to freak you out. All I meant to do was tell you that if he does have two rows of teeth it has been known to happen and can be corrected, but an X-ray is probably required to know for sure what is going on... good luck to your son, you and your wife... keep us posted.
javaqueen Jul 6th, 2012, 08:05 AM my daughters both went through that and their teeth are beautiful and straight, just make sure that the baby teeth are coming out and the "second row" will move forward on its own

In the instance of my ex-girl friend she actually had two rows of adult teeth so not the same thing as I was referring to and did require dental surgery to correct.
cap10subtext Jul 6th, 2012, 10:40 AM yikes! it's like that episode of Fringe! ;)
My feeling is that dentists are experts at up selling the "hardware upgrades". If they thought your kid would need braces or serious corrective surgery, they'd be all over that.
But otherwise don't fret about it too much, you don't want to give your kid a complex about their teeth.

I have heard this to be true with certain dentists. It certainly isn't the case with my dentist who is the only dentist I have ever had starting at the age of 16 when was the first time I ever saw a dentist and who said if all his patients had teeth like mine that he would go broke even though I had a space between my two front teeth.
He never suggested filling the gap until I brought it up in my mid 30s so it certainly isn't the case with all dentists.
If macintosh doctor's son requires corrective surgery the dentist should in time bring it up if it is going to create a problem later in life...
He/she is probably waiting to see how more of his adult teeth come in before deciding if it is necessary. But all I can say is if it is indeed the case that he has two rows of adult teeth, that is a problem that should be corrected.
macintosh doctor Jul 6th, 2012, 02:16 PM going to keep a close eye on his second tooth that has to come out.. hopping for the simple of the answers.
the first one is moving in to place slowly
