Hello,
I've decided to sell my trusty Mac Pro and use my new MacBook Pro as my main working machine. Here are the system specs:
-2008 8-core (dual-quad) 2.8 GHz Xeon CPUs
-10GB RAM (2x4GB + 2x1GB)
-Radeon 6870 graphics with 1GB RAM
-128GB SSD Boot drive
-2TB 7200RPM hard drive
-16x superdrive
-External eSata port
-Original 2600XT graphics card included (but not installed)
-Latest OSX Lion installed
-No keyboard or mouse
-OPTIONAL: MediaSonic ProRaid 4-day eSata and USB2 RAID enclosure with 4x WD Black 500GB drives
The machine is rock-solid and had been a photography workhorse for me. The SSD is installed in the spare optical bay and connected to one of the two SATA ports on the motherboard, so it doesn't use a drive bay. The other motherboard SATA port is connected to an external SATA connector.
Those of you familiar with Mac Pros probably guessed that the 6870 is not an Apple OEM video card. It's a Gigabyte PC video card that was flashed to work in a Mac. It works 100%, even with the EFI boot screens and has full acceleration. The only known issue with the flashed card is that one of the two DVI ports does not work on a Mac. The two mDP, one Dvi and one HDMI all work. I drive three monitors with it, one DVI and two mDP, and it works great. I'm also including the original 2600XT video card that came with the Mac. It could be installed at the same time, or in place of the 6870.
I'm asking 1500$ for the Mac Pro. I could swap the 128GB SSD for a 240GB SSD for an extra 150$ if more space is needed.
I also have a MediaSonic ProRaid 4-day eSata enclosure with 4x WD Black 500GB drives that I am selling that works great with this Mac Pro. The enclosure supports Raid 0,1,5 (and I think Raid 10 also). I currently use it as a RAID 5 array. Transfer rate from the array is about 200-225 MB/s in RAID 5. I would include it with the Mac Pro for an extra 350$ if the buyer is interested.
PM me if interested. I'd prefer a local sale in Ottawa, since the tower is pretty expensive to ship.
