It looks like there are air intakes (3 on each side?) of this new design. I sometimes use my laptop in a dusty environment, so I'm wondering if it would be OK to cover these intakes with (insert best material here) a filter.

No. It would not be OK.

Open the back and clean regularly.

I've read all at Dan's Data - Full Index (http://www.dansdata.com/altindex.html#cooling) and know a bit about fluid dynamics.

But my experience is with, somewhat, uh, "larger volumes", so the smaller space movement of cooling air inside a laptop is new to me.

Maybe some foam filter media????

PuraPC - Filter Specifications (http://www.purapc.com/Filter_specs.htm) for air flow specs.

Interesting question, I wonder if the dust (over time) will increase the heat build up on the MBP?
