: Got Back up?
macintosh doctor Jun 19th, 2012, 04:56 PM Are you Backed Up?
it is a great question to ask yourself..
but say it out loud "can I live through a stolen or lost or damaged computer, without cutting my wrists vertically? "
LIke the fact chart says do it twice or even 3 times..

dona83 Jun 19th, 2012, 06:19 PM Thanks for that!
Perfect time to point out my spin on MacDoc's signature. :D
NAS (Time Capsule) + Cloud for me. I do use the cloud to back up documents, photos, and large movies as well, until Apple allows these movies to be re-downloaded, I'd feel safer having an offsite copy. I could possibly store a hard drive offsite instead, it's not often I purchase a new movie anyway.
DempsyMac Jun 20th, 2012, 11:15 AM I have a 1TB time machine back up, and I have a 500GB portable drive that I back up all my photo's to every 3-4 months and that drive is kept in a safe depot box at the bank. I have too often met people that have backed up's even multiple back up's but keep them all right beside each other.
If your house/office/etc burns down, gets broken into if all your gear is sitting beside each other it will all go, see ya! Off site back up of your most important files is so important, especially photo's!

Dude that is a different graphic - called House insurance. LOL
dona83 Jun 20th, 2012, 02:09 PM Because insurance companies will magically get lost photos and other personal memories back.

I was just going to say the same thing, they can replace your computer but not the data!
okcomputer Jun 20th, 2012, 02:33 PM Man, hard drive prices have really taken a jump and stayed there.
I really want to grab another drive to backup my iMac and store it off-site, swapping the drives every month or so. But drives are so pricey right now. I do have all everything backed up twice, and my important docs are in the cloud, but I want that third backup offsite.
Joker Eh Jun 20th, 2012, 02:52 PM do you have this in some doc so I could send it to someone? Would rather instead of big image.

Drag the .jpg image to your desktop. File size is 1.5 GB and 879 pixels wide. Resize it in Preview to 400 pixels wide and it becomes 276 KB. Send to person and tell them to resize it to the 870 pixels wide when received for viewing. Done.

Just open image in new window and then copy and paste the URL to the friend
