Hi

I would appreciate your advice.
I tried to update my son's white MacBook via software updates. However, when it says " To install the updates, you must restart your computer". When I press restart, the computer just reboots without installing the updates.
I would appreciate your advice.

Thanks

Try shutting down the MB and do a cold boot using "Safe Boot Mode" log in etc. and try again.

Just hold down the shift key with a cold boot at least until you see the spinning gear wheel, and then select the admin user and log in.

Then try using the Software Update again.

I've seen this issue before - especially if there's an EFI or SMC or Thunderbolt hardware update mixed with other updates. If that's the case with you, run all the non-hardware updates first, then one hardware update at a time. If there are no hardware updates, select a few updates at a time and re-test, re-doing them as necessary until they all apply successfully.
