: 3 reported dead in University of Alberta shooting
Dr.G. Jun 15th, 2012, 05:03 AM "At least three people have been shot at the University of Alberta in Edmonton early Friday morning, according to reports.
The Edmonton Journal said three employees of an armoured car company were killed and that a fourth person was taken to hospital.
Ravedh Seeberath told CBC News he was studying at the school when he heard what he thought were fireworks. A few minutes later he saw a number of emergency personnel descend on the area. A security guard told Seeberath three people had been shot."

How very tragic. :(:-(
dona83 Jun 15th, 2012, 05:31 AM How sad. I wonder what the motive was.
Dr.G. Jun 15th, 2012, 05:37 AM How sad. I wonder what the motive was.
True. Any death like this is sad and tragic. Paix, mon ami.
SINC Jun 15th, 2012, 05:59 AM How sad. I wonder what the motive was.
All the dead and injured were armoured truck company employees. It was a robbery attempt by a lone gunman that police are still searching for at this hour.
John Clay Jun 15th, 2012, 07:53 AM How sad. I wonder what the motive was.
I would imagine they wanted whatever was in the armored truck. This wasn't random.
kps Jun 15th, 2012, 08:10 AM What's truly sad is the media misleading the public with a headline which insinuates some deranged lunatic on a rampage at the university, when in fact all this was, was a failed attempt at robbing an armoured car service.
SINC Jun 15th, 2012, 08:31 AM The Edmonton Journal's headline writers are brain dead as well. It has nothing to do with the university, other than the location of the truck:
Three dead after university shooting in Edmonton (http://www.edmontonjournal.com/news/Three+dead+after+shooting+University+Alberta/6786020/story.html)
It most certainly is NOT a 'university shooting'. Whatever happened to:
Lone gunman kills three guards, injures one in failed armoured truck robbery
SINC Jun 15th, 2012, 09:24 AM Finally someone arrived at work awake:
Three dead after attempted armoured car robbery at U of A in Edmonton (video) (http://www.edmontonjournal.com/news/Three+dead+after+attempted+armoured+robbery+Edmont on/6786020/story.html)
Joker Eh Jun 15th, 2012, 09:30 AM The media wants it to be a school shooting. Its a bigger news day for them.
jimbotelecom Jun 15th, 2012, 09:43 AM As per the CBC (sorry no link) some of the first indications of a problem came from the UofA dorm rooms collocated in the mall via twitter. Speculation ran rampant following that.

That's a better title. Much more informative and it sounds less like some lunatic on the loose in a school.
rgray Jun 15th, 2012, 01:05 PM That's a better title. Much more informative and it sounds less like some lunatic on the loose in a school.
Or if you're paranoid, sounds like a lunatic using a robbery to mask an attack.... ;)
SINC Jun 15th, 2012, 04:37 PM It would seem the police are hunting a 21-year-old employee of the security firm who shot his co-workers in a failed robbery attempt. So sad.
dona83 Jun 15th, 2012, 06:17 PM How do you tell their families that their loved one was in the wrong place at the wrong time? A senseless crime. To learn that they died at the hands of their colleague? That's even more tragic.
I wonder why gun crime has been on the rise lately. Eaton Centre shooting and Angus Mitchell out here on the west coast.
And proof that the original title spawned some vicious connections:
I went to Simon Fraser University and the professor screwed over the entire class when he changed the test from nuclear phisics to quamtum physics without telling anyone, and we had not yet touched the subject The entire class failed and went on academic probation See when you screw with peoples futures and the enormous tuition wasted, you cant expect people to just take it Now I am not saying this is what happened here, more clarification is required

Eaton Centre shooting -- perpetrated by a criminal on house arrest with an illegal firearm. Justice system fail. Gang problems not addressed. I'm sure an ammunition ban in Toronto would have prevented this. <--sarcasm
Mitchell -- mentally ill individual who had his firearms confiscated and then returned by the same police department. Cop and system fail.
Travis Brandon Baumgartner -- carries a gun as job requirement. Killed 3 armed men who also carry guns as part of job requirement. More info needed in this case.

Make that two men and one woman.
kps Jun 15th, 2012, 08:03 PM Make that two men and one woman.
Okay then, let's make it 3 armed individuals. ;)
SINC Jun 15th, 2012, 08:55 PM I think the woman is significant. A man has to have a whole lot of hate to pull the trigger on a pretty young thing like she was as she appeared in a recent interview on the local CTV news about a month back and clips run tonight. It takes a special kind of monster to shoot anyone, but shooting a woman makes him pure evil.
