: Problems with Mail

I am having problems with Mail and viewer windows and closing mail version 5.2 after upgrade to Lion 10.7.4 on a Macbook 2.1 Ghz with 4 GB of Memory.

Mail works fine in the Admin account but in the standard account the mail viewer window does not open properly.

A viewer window will only open with Command "0" (will not open with a mouse click in 'Window" menu.) The windows partially opens (see below) but does not show accounts or other icons.

You can not open Mail preferences (greyed out) and Mail will only quit with forced quit.

Any thoughts regarding a fix for this situation?

close mail. have finder active, go to the "go" menu and click, the hold cmd and option on keyboard to reveal the library folder

in there go to preferences and try pulling com.apple.mail.plist to the desktop and try re-launching mail

Thanks Broad I tried your suggestion but it did not resolve the issue. I reopen mail and the message viewer window did not appear. I clicked on Message Viewer under the Window menu and nothing happened in Mail. I command "0" to get the same message viewer window as before.

When I tried to click the Message Viewer under the Window menu in Mail this error message was in Console

When I clicked on Preferences (now not greyed out) nothing happened but Console produced the message below.
