Just following the WWDC and read that Siri will be able to tell you locations in Canada with iOS6. It's about time!

Siri might, but I bet a zillion dollars maps won't know much about Canada.

Reports are that they are using Yelp and TomTom for some of the mapping data so I'm thinking there's a pretty good chance it knows a fair bit about Canada (Though I will be surprised if we have the 3D mode in Canada anytime soon)

Turn by turn maps won't work on an iPhone 4. That's baloney.

I have not seen this requirement, they say it is a feature of iOS6 and 6 is compatible with 3GS and up so why would your 4 not work with turn by turn?

Certainly seem to work on my phone.

I haven't tried the actual turn by turn (while moving), but it displays the directions and I can manually advance.

Two Maps-related features in iOS 6 will require at least an iPhone 4S or an iPad 2 to function, despite requirements for the rest of the OS, Apple has quietly revealed. A check of the official Maps page shows the fact mentioned only in a footnote. "Flyover and turn-by-turn navigation will be available only on iPhone 4S and iPad 2 or later," the page reads, adding that "some features may not be available in all countries or all areas."

yes I stand corrected:
Some features may not be available in all countries or all areas. Flyover and turn-by-turn navigation will be available only on iPhone 4S and iPad 2 or later. Cellular data charges may apply.
From: Apple (http://www.apple.com/ca/ios/ios6/maps/)

I guess it would have to be due to Siri giving the directions?

Flyover doesn't work, but like I said, turn by turn appears to at least show the directions. I'll test it out today, and see if it updates while driving. As there's no Siri support, I don't expect it to tell me when to turn, just display it.

Tried it while driving today. The turn by turn works, but only if you manually advance it. Similar to before, where it would give you directions and you had to advance it yourself. However, the directions are very similar to the turn by turn, and much more driver friendly.

Yeah, what's up with this? Kinda disappointed.

At least we found out it was Google, responsible for not knowing where Canada was, like Google Voice, *grumble grumble grumble

I stand corrected on the maps.

Also apparently Montreal already has the 3d maps enabled, so I'd bet there's a decent chance most major Canadian cities could have it by launch in the fall.
