It seems that when this gory case first hit the news wires because a human foot was sent to the CPC offices it generated a rather glib thread here that ended up being quite an embarrassment for some as the reality of the heinous and despicable acts of the perpetrator have come to light...

In some ways it reminds me of the case of Vince Weiguang Li, the Greyhound Bus cannibal in 2008.

Except that I don't recall there ever being any jokes and "light hearted" commentary associated with that situation. But somehow the victim of a despicable act whose dismembered foot was sent to the CPC headquarters made it funny... few thought's for the victim or his family or the outrage that would normally be associated with such a horrific crime.

I think this is a wake up call for us all as to how politically divided we have become.

We all need to start to be humans first and politicos second...

Well said. I was embarrassed and shocked by the comments in the other thread.

I will give the NDP this though... during the SO31 (Members Statements) portion of QP, a couple of days ago, a NDP MP rose on behalf of his party and expressed his condolences to the CPC staffers who were subject to this depravity.

Even though he was probably responding to "conspiracy theorists" who thought supporters of his his party might somehow be involved... it was a "stand up" moment and I give them credit.
