Is there a way to view iPhoto Albums on an ATV2 without MobileMe? And without firing up a computer and launching iphoto or itunes?

I have a couple albums uploaded as Galleries so I can browse them on my ATV2, I even have one of them set as a screensaver on the ATV2.

I haven't really used it, but isn't PhotoStream the iCloud replacement for photo syncing?

I haven't used it either, but from what I had read, PhotoStream is just whatever photos you have taken most recently. I'm looking to sync a couple specific albums from my iPhoto, which are not my most recent pictures.

Photo syncing is different to having albums hosted for others to see. - pretty much Facebook can host your albums

You're right Stephanie. I understand the difference now. PhotoStream only syncs the most recent photos from your iOS devices to your computer.

I haven't tried it yet because I use PhotoShop vs. iPhoto. I should try Aperture, which also works with PhotoStream.

I believe there are other photo collections accessible as well, including Flickr.

If you're referring to MobileMe Gallery, then the answer is no. Obviously you can view these albums through a Mac on your local network, which must be on at the time.

iPhoto for iOS has a new feature called Journals that kinda-sorta replaces iPhoto Gallery, but as far as I know it's not ATV-friendly (yet).

I have happily replaced Mobile Me with the Gmail family of products despite knowing Google is going to read my data and sell off the important pieces.

I only have iCloud to have my Apple goodies registered, and of course for iTunes.

Thanks for the info.

Maybe it's time I look into joining Flickr.

Common misconception.. As far as I know Google doesn't sell your actual data. They sell ad space, and use an algorithm that uses your data to place specific ads on your screen.

And at least this is as far as I understand things, I only used google adwords once a few years ago..

They don't go to sellers and sell them "here's RunTheWorldOnMac's private information, now give me $500k!".... THAT would be pure evil :lmao: So unless there's a breach of some kind, your personal info/email content/etc does not leave Google's servers, nor does it get displayed to advertisers... They don't get to find out either "well RTWOM clicked on our ad because he was reading an email about turtles and our ad for pet rocks that look like turtles showed up". They just know someone clicked on an ad about turtles. At worst, they know someone did a google search for pet rocks and clicked on an ad about turtles..

I can't find the source, but I do recall a convoluted methodology for figuring out who someone is by narrowing down from searches and sites visited over a period of time.

It was more humorous prod at the user agreement between Google that says they can use, control, etc. There was a discussion a while back about it but really, if your information is online, there is potential it could one day be exposed either maliciously or professionally. Risk management...

ok for the humor! But yeah if your information is online, you take a risk, all the time, every time, with any service... Even when you don't yourself place the information there. wasn't there an article last year that came out, after a bunch of banking systems' breaches, that said that banks get hacked into more often than we think but they just don't announce it because they don't want to lose customers or make people afraid? Hmmm...

Finally getting around to finding a replacement for iDisk. Just got Dropbox (http://db.tt/Ua7CHgHB). Really cool service and about 10x faster than iDisk ever was.

Really like it.

Whoa - wish I'd known you were coming to DropBox, Mr. Mayor - could have used the referral to up my space ;)

Meanwhile, spread the world - there's a new scam based on the iCloud / MobileMe transition:

I've used Flickr for years and had always liked it! When checking out a lens I want to buy I search it in Flickr and see what people say about it and how they shoot with it by checking their images. Great privacy control too!
