I want to put an image with some text onto a t-shirt. I'm using iron-on transfer paper.

The iron-on part is a no-brainer - done it a zillion times, but using Pages, I can't figure out how to reverse the image so the text comes out right.

I'm using an HP all-in-one printer.

Any ideas?

In Pages, I can see a menu option for "flip horizontally" but it's greyed out.

Can you not open the image in Preview, flip it horizontally, and then drag it into Pages? That's how I do it.

Turns out you can flip text, but it has to be in a text box.

I'm very frustrated with Pages.

Tell the OS X print function you are using a t-shirt transfer and it will flip everything for you when printing.

I make 10 t-shirts twice a year for my sisters charity and this is how I do it.

The one caveat to this, is the "dark t-shirt" transfers they sell, have to printed the right way, so, reverse the image or don't use the "T-Shirt Transfer" setting! (I learned this the hard way after doing 10 black t-shirts with an abstract image, no text, one year that was in fact, backwards on all 10 shirts... while I think it didn't matter, the designed had different ideas.)

Another way to reverse the image, btw, is to lay it out as desired in Pages, print to PDF, open the PDF in Preview and flip, then print; but, I assume that OS X knows how to handle t-shirt transfer paper and the printer best with the appropriate paper source, so I don't bother (unless it's a dark t-shirt transfer!).

Maybe avoid all the Pages hassles and download and use and try the free "DesignPro for Mac" from Avery that works with most iron-on transfers, and a lot of other optional stuff as well.

Oh god, this is the most diabolical software ever written!!! Drawing it by hand would be preferable.

Hmmm...??? I don't know about it being "diabolical", but the last time I was sent an iron-on transfer template a year or so ago, when I went to open it my Mac gave me a choice of various applications to use and I just selected DesignPro for Mac and it worked just fine.

But to each their own I guess. ;)
