Take the test! (http://t.staples.com/sbd/cre/marketing/technology-research-centers/ereaders/speed-reader/index.html)

My speed is 249....... Dissapointing but I knew I was't fast.

Average is apparently 300.

275, but comprehension is the key .............. read as fast as you want, but if you can't recall the basics in the piece, deeper understanding is even further away. Paix, mon ami.

wow, I guess when your angry and surfing the net - you smarts goes up : went to the net to surf to cool off as my kids broke the water sprayer for the lawn after i said don't touch, wife said go surf.

You read 2,242 words per minute.
That makes you 797% faster than the national average. [ all 3 answers correct ]
- the site told me that:

If you maintained this reading speed, you could read
War and Peace by Leo Tolstoy in 4 hours and 22 minutes

That wouldn't be my first choice.. LOL

I'm a slow reader when I read for pleasure, but I can skim technical manuals with the best of them :D

It said I could read War and Peace in 42 hours. The book is available at Audible.com. Fredrick Davidson reads it in 60 hours.

Interesting exercise. Interesting marketing tool. How many books can you read on the various eReaders that Staples sells before you need a recharge.

Tried it a few more times, and got an average of 335. I don't like to read printed materials quickly, other than possibly a newspaper's sports section.

Hi, I ran at 734 with all questions correct. I'm sure this is due to the pile of stuff I have to read each day to survive in my studies.

:eek::eek::eek: I have the belief that one's schema (i.e., one's background of knowledge and experiences) will help you in your understanding of receptive language, but you are amazing if you are able to do this consistently. Statistically, you should only be getting one out of three. Kudos, mon ami.
