: Almost thinking about AppleTv

Okay, so I'm finally going to cut the cord with the cable company. I have a mini, but have been thinking of the AppleTv.

Here is what I think I know:

AppleTv is small and should work seamlessly, but I have to pay for Tv websites as it will not browse these for free as the mini does.

I can not purchase content, only rent it.

It will stream content from my mini to the tv using airplay.

What I don't know is :

Does it matter that I am in Canada when content is released (one would expect Hulu and such to be coming here, as well as Zip.ca) which maybe a vote for the mini.

Does the processor and ram of the mini have an advantage over the Apple tv.

I guess what I am struggling with is a new mini a better device and an AppleTv.

There are workarounds to get Hulu to work.

I buy stuff on my iMac and stream it on my AppleTV.

When Mountain Lion comes out, you will be able to mirror the display via AirPlay, that should significantly open up the Apple TV to more content, like flash only websites like CBC.

An Apple TV Jailbroken with XBMC get's endless amounts of content. I am not talking about the pirated content either (which it also has plenty of), I am talking about it just giving you access to services like Hulu and all the content from the network's web sites. I use it along with UnBlockUs (to get US content) and Netflix and have more TV and movies than I could ever watch. Even without UnBlock us, there are XBMC plugins to get all the Canadian networks content though.

Maybe you'll want to wait until the iTV comes out, presumably for the holiday season? Of course if you just bought a TV forget about it. I'm myself refraining from buying either until we know more about that damn thing supposed to "crack" the TV.
