Looking to get an opinion on reasonable selling price for my Macpro1,1.

Firmware upgraded to 2,1
2 X Quad core 5345 2.33GHz = 8 cores
16GB Memory 8 X 2GB
HD5770 video card (will throw in the original 7300GT as well)
1TB WD Black Boot drive
Added optional Bluetooth and Wifi cards
Added eSata PCIe card

The front top "wing" has a substantial dent in it but completely aesthetic in nature but I recognize some people are very picky about these looking pristine. Not sure how much to deduct for that.

I will be trying for local sale in Ottawa to avoid shipping but I have the shipping box I got it in if necessary.

Thanks. How much lower spec? Did it have the upgraded quad core processors? 16GB RAM? 5770 graphics? Just trying to gauge the differences and what they are worth.

Yup. I was expecting it to take a while because Mac Pro's are definitely not main stream. But I got a response within a few hours of posting on the local sale group. Just lucky I guess.

I am downsizing a bit by selling the Mac Pro which has become a glorified file server, replace it with a NAS, and then replace my iMac 21.5" with a used 2009 iMac 27" i7 2.8GHz 8GB which is being shipped to me today from California. I use my iMac all the time and barely use the Mac Pro. Looking at the i7 specs it will do just fine for the occasional Handbrake runs and might give the Mac Pro a run for the money in performance (although it will not run as cool as the Mac Pro I know). The sale of the Mac Pro covers the cost of the iMac so it should be a wash. Well, actually customs will surely ding it so I might be down about $100 but the iMac will certainly get waaay more usage than my Mac Pro was getting sitting in the basement.

I find that Mac users prefer Craigslist, even though it is a mess (saturated with scammers). Probably 80% of my Mac and Bicycle related gadgets sell on Craigs (my tow chief hobbies).

Kijiji is eBay. They invested in Craigs, stole all of the ideas and are now trying to put them out of business.

The scams are easy to spot. iPad 2 for $188, or MBP that a person is selling because they just took a new job and work provided them with one.

I don't agree. Kijiji is not eBay, not even close. Kijiji is by far and large local face to face transactions, eBay is most definitely not. I have made dozens of buying and selling transaction with Kijiji (all good), only a handful with eBay (buying only) and almost none with Craigslist. Kijiji took the Craigslist way of doing things and made it better IMO.

Craigslist works well enough in Toronto, but I prefer dealing with ehMac members--far and away better dealings. When the ratings system was still in place here (up to five years ago?) I had 53 positive, no negatives, and had given similar ratings in return. Things don't always sell here, or sell quickly, but there are deals to be had and what people say is what you get.
