monokitty May 7th, 2012, 02:00 PM Updated - no issues. I updated directly from iTunes this time from 5.1 to 5.1.1 and it didn't restore the entire phone like the updates through iTunes used to this time around.
Chimpur May 7th, 2012, 02:57 PM Updating via my phone itself. White bar is.... halfway across the screen installing I believe.
Paul82 May 7th, 2012, 03:41 PM Have to wait till I get home to update over wifi, got a message that it was too big to do over 3G.

I wish apple could make this more of a suggestion than an order!! I got one of those 6GB deals when the iPhone 4 came out, and I can easily afford to download large app updates, and would rather save the wifi bandwidth to non-ios related download!

Yeah I was just going to say. Same thing. I have a 6gb cap and yet I can never really reach that. Essentially if Telus won't let me download anything above 20mb through the App store or whatever. Sorry side rant....
kelman May 9th, 2012, 07:47 AM it updated my iPhone 4 to the new iOS on monday and I didn't know it at the time but I had no service, it told me I need to restore my phone using iTunes. Okay, restored, updated, synced and then it said this phone can't be restored. Okay did the whole process again only to to be back to no service. Tried it a third time and it was back to normal. Later that evening, no service - restore phone please. Okay, restored, updated, synced and working fine. Went to bed, woke up, no service. repeated process, working again, went to work. mid morning guess what, no service. called apple support and he says "oh". I restored once again and wow imagine that, service. had lunch back to work, only to discover, you won't guess will you, no service. called and made an appointment with the geniuses in burlington. meanwhile, restore and wow! service! partway through the afternoon ... guess.... no service. got to my appointment and they give me a new phone, genius helps me set it up with the basics and the previous iOS because one of my sync files might be causing all this???? got home with a crippled new phone, restored it to factory, updated and synced around dinner time. Woke up this morning, so far so good.

Wow what an ordeal! My phones (3GS) has been handling the upgrade really well! No probs whatsoever! Better battery life I think. I'll give it a week to avg out usage etc.
kelman May 9th, 2012, 01:36 PM replacement phone is holding up well so far, maybe it was hardware related to the other phone, either way i'll let you know if something happens.
dwp May 9th, 2012, 02:34 PM I still can't access airplay or home sharing between my Mac Pro and the ipad or iphone. Something disconnected somewhere along the way and I can't for the life of me figure it out.
No problem with the ATV2 and the Mac Pro.

Don't think you can. Unless I am mistaken it will be new to me.

Home Sharing should work. Is your Mac Pro and ATV2 connected by Ethernet wire by any chance? What about iPad and iPhone to ATV2?
Note that you can use your iPad and iPhone to access your Mac Pro's iTunes library via Home Sharing, you can't Airplay from the Mac Pro to the iPad/iPhone.

You can? How?

On the iPhone or iPod touch there is a shared tab under more of the music app and in the video app there should be a shared button along the top. If you are connected to the same network with home sharing set up it should show up.
On the iPad there is a shared button for the video app on the top and there is one somewhere in the music app as well but I haven't had a reason to find it or use it since most of my music is on my iPad, but it's there.

Wow did not know that. Never thought to look at the settings page for videos or music. Thanks
irontree May 14th, 2012, 06:42 PM Interesting... I've been trying to figure this out for the last few mins but without any success.
Sharing is turned on in iTunes. But no shared tab shows up on my iPhone in the music app.
My user name and password are keyed in the music app settings under home sharing as well
Thanks for any help
Dr_AL May 14th, 2012, 10:03 PM Check in the more tab
Shows up there for me.

I had the same problem but it corrected itself when I plugged the ethernet cable from my Mac Pro directly into my Airport Extreme. My wi-fi printer has suddenly reappeared on the Mac Pro as well.
I have the ATV2, Mac Pro and Playstation directly connected into the Airport Extreme. Laptops, iPads and iPhones all connect via wi-fi.
As a side note to those thinking of purchasing a new iPad, iPhone or iPod Touch, you may not need the 64gb version (or even 32gb) at all!
Airsharing and iCloud kinda eliminate the need for the large capacity portable devices. I have a 32gb iPhone 4s that I'd happily swap for a 16 (plus cash, of course).
