: ZIP Drives and an old Mac for sale!

I have some old ZIP drives that I need to get the data off of.
I've tried hooking up my MBP to the old 8500 the ZIP drive is attached to, but with the newest OSX 10.7.3, they stopped taking to each other and no matter what I've tried, I can't connect them.
In fact, once I do transfer the data, I will have a PoweMac8500 for sale (with monitor, scanner, ZIP100 drive, LOTS and LOTS of software). It's been in storage for the last 11 years so it's working 100%.

I'm in Mississauga...anyone nearby that might be able to help/be interested?

Do you come out by Peterborough way ? I have an old G4 with CD burner that would do the trick !

i was able to get my ZIP drive problems solved: i was able to pick up a used USB Zip.

but now I can sell my old Mac: would anyone be interested in a 8500/132MHz? when i have enough posts, i'll put in the Classified section. anyone have any idea how much i should ask for it?

I hope that you've checked that you can actually open and use any data that you "rescued" before you "sell" your 8500 Mac.

But rather than asking how much to ask for the 8500, you might consider asking how much you should pay for someone to at least come and pick it up!! ;)

Or try your local Salvation Army recycling place that may find it useful at least for any re-cycling profit they could get!!

Recycling is a bad option. Reusing or repurposing is a much better option.

Also, older Macs like the 8500 are harder to find in a working condition. If you were local I would come by and pick it up, but alas shipping would be a tad expensive.

I am sure you could get enough for a case of beer from a local collector.
