: Canadian UnblockUs
G-Mo May 2nd, 2012, 07:33 PM Does anyone know of a Canadian version of UnblockUs? I know "we" all want to get access to US content, but, I know some Canadians, including myself, who are going to be out of the country and want to access Canadian Internet content (TV, etc...) while abroad.

JumboJones May 5th, 2012, 11:37 AM I subscribe to UnblockUs, works great for netflix on all my devices, Wii, ATV, iPhone...$4.99/mo well worth it, they have a 7 day free trial, I suggest giving it a try.

I've used UnblockUs, it's great, but, I want to UnblockCANADA to watch certain programming and use certain Canadian apps as I am going to be out of the country for an extended period of time starting later this year.

Unfortunately, doesn't help me on my iPad, Apple TV, Wii, etc...
tdu May 5th, 2012, 06:15 PM It's not quite as simple as Unblockus, but HideMyAss is a pretty easy to use VPN (has a mac application) that has a bunch of Canadian IP's. You could hook up to one of those from the US. The speeds aren't bad when I hook up to the closest US ones, so I am assuming it would be the same hooking up to the closest Canadian ones from the States.

You take your Apple TV and Wii with you when you travel? The advice I gave was based on using a laptop on the road and out of the country.

Yes. We will be gone for 2+ years.

proxy.. it's all i can say.. i guess. but then, all your traffic will be routed back to canada before going to where ever you are... it might be slow.

Yes, that's what I am looking for, a Canadian proxy (that's what UnblockUs is for the US, no?)...
I have two AirPort Extreme base stations, the plan would be to configure one as the Canadian connection and to use the other with a local config. I would then select which wifi I want to be connected to, depending on which "national" service I require.

Actually, UnblockUS isn't a proxy. It's just a DNS redirect hat makes it looks like you're coming from the US when making name searches. None of the actual traffic ever goes through their equipment.
It's a pretty good setup for them, since it doesn't require much bandwidth and equipment even if they have lots of customers.
