Been having a similar battle, though not with Apple. A simple matter of a small over-billing. Company in question has taken four months and probably spent $1000s trying to discourage me from seeking reimbursement. Finally heard that they did indeed admit to the over-billing but even then they demanded that I send copies of both sides of the payment cheque before they would issue a refund. Still waiting to see that refund (less than $500).

Would love to know how these idiots think they are acting in the best interests of the great master corp(se).

Peoples faith in Corporations has always amazed me.

Corporations tell you right up front they will do everything possible to get shareholders the best return. That means picking your pockets clean if they get the chance but many people like corporations, champion Corporations and even want to put their faith in Corporations.

The cellular industry is hosing people in Canada, the Canadian cellular industry along with other partners have successfully managed to have the CRTC become the referee of industry not the public defender of the public. Are people angry with the Corporations? No, people are mad at the CRTC not the Corporations.

In this case the Courts, the public institution gave redress. In general people have no faith in public institutions and regulators, some people will state we need less regulation to make the country better.

Witness the Northern Gateway Pipeline situation. Corporations having a Government do it's bidding solely for the good of Corporations.

That's downright scary.

As corporations are made up of people and I am quit confident that 90% of the time people will do what is in their best interest, I have plenty of faith that corporations will do the same.... especially lawyers for said corporation. ;)

Quite shocked actually that Apple chose to go that route with this customer, as many times I've heard stories about Apple doing things like replacing a MacBook Pro for a customer, even though it was the customer who dropped it in the pool.

I've heard of them replacing computers for non-sensical reasons, so it's surprising, and really stupid, to not replace the guys computer when he has a perfectly logical explanation.

The guy should send an email to sjob... oh, wait. :(

Corporations can be so stupid.

I just called Rogers to cancel my cable. They wouldn't do it without me paying an early cancellation fee, which apparently I verbally agreed to a 1 year contract. (I don't remember doing that)

Anyways, for the sake of $160, they are losing a customer with 5 other services with them, who has been with them for 15 years. You think they'd have some common sense.

For the sake of a logic board, that didn't cost them a thing, Apple not only is losing a customer, but how much $$$ worth of bad publicity, their 2 schleps time etc.. are they losing?

Power to the consumer.

A great read! Always good to hear when the little guy wins and the big guy has to pay up. I suppose the big guys are obstinate to try to prevent frivolous lawsuits. Plus they can afford it. It's great when justice has been served. Apple could have at least given him a free iTunes card for his trouble.
