Even if you aren't looking to make a change just yet, you might find something that catches your eye or use the perks as leverage with your current employer to get them to spring for a new Mac!

this idea is a great one, as the economy (in AB anyway) is really starting to heat up the staff are the ones with all the power, so the employer has to start to woo potential employees and this could be a great way to do it.

A friend and I were talking recently about her re-joining the workforce as an employee due a life changing event and she is fearful of having to work in Windows. She's very imbedded in the Mac environment, but thankfully, she's a graphics designer so hopefully she'll be ok.

I know some of you will laugh at that, but some of you will completely agree. :)

It looks like a great site. It's too bad they force you to create an account before you can even see the listings. I'm not signing up and giving my personal info before I can even see if there are any postings in Ottawa. That's poor form.

We’re making some big changes at AltCareer to bring you a better experience.

In about a week AltCareer will no longer require a login to view job postings.

Why you ask? We are eliminating the login due to overwhelming feedback from employers and many of our users. This means you’ll be able to browse jobs right from the home page without having to login and remember another password.

A few other changes and notes:

We are eliminating candidate accounts, which includes your personal profile page. All personal information will be deleted except for your name and email address which we will use for our newsletter list, unless you’ve already unsubscribed.
You will no longer need to fill out an AltCareer profile to apply for jobs. You’ll be asked to send a resume through email or you’ll be re-directed to the employer’s career page.
We are redesigning the way you search for jobs. It will be easier to find jobs that offer the perks you need.
We will send you one more notification before the changes go live. If you have any feedback we would love to hear it, so please let us know!

Hahahaha, my computer totally does double as a space heater. It does sound good to use a Mac instead, but I feel like I know the shortcuts and everything so well now that it'd be difficult to switch. That, and that I don't have the funds to do that.

As the Mayor mentioned, we've made it much easier to access jobs - no more signups, no more profiles - come on the site and browse jobs immediately. We're excited to gain traction so that we can spread the service to more cities in Canada. Keep the feedback coming!
